Former double Major Champion and Ryder Cup captain Tony Jacklin, will be joined by past Masters Champion and Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam and the event’s first ladies major winner and Solheim Cup winning captain Alison Nicholas.

other past Ryder Cup stars include Brian Barnes who famously beat Jack Nicklaus twice in one day in 1975, Maurice Bembridge, Tommy Horton, Des Smyth, Malcom Gregson and Paul Broadhurst.

Today’s European Tour and Seniors Tour are represented by Scott Jamieson, Graeme Storm, Marc Warren, Gary Boyd, Andrew Marshall, Scott Drummond and 21 year old Tommy Fleetwood and will pit their short game skills against the likes of No 1 Senior Tour winner Carl Mason, Gary Wolstenholme, David J Russell, Andrew Oldcorn, Tony Johnstone, last year’s winner Andrew Sherbourne and Nailcote’s own Mark Mouland.

Rick Cressman said: “It has to be the best field of players that has been assembled to play in the event and reflects the growing status of the championship amongst the players.”

They will be well supported by celebrity guests including Strictly Come Dancing’s Len Goodman, Jasper Carrott, William Roache, Peter Schmeichel, David Seaman, Matt LeTissier, Peter Shilton, Mike Proctor, Gordon Greenidge and Matthew Hoggard.

Spectators and competitors will be in for a treat with the Cromwell Course in spectacular condition following redevelopment during the last year including two new water features.

The tented village offers a range of catering, competitions and shops.

Parking is free in the public car park and adult day tickets can be purchased at the gate for £10, or for children under 13 and over 65’s are £5­­
